Hello! That's me in a slot canyon in southern Utah. I thankfully didn't get stuck and have to cut an arm off to get out. :) A bit more about me below...
I started photographing things when I was about 12 years old with my mom's old Minolta manual focus camera. Throughout school I was always known as the artsy one. Later on I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography (and a minor in geography... I like maps). I photographed my first wedding back in 2005. Since then I have photographed 400+ more. In between those weddings I like to photograph birds and landscapes. It has taken me from the Pacific coast to the mountains of Tennessee to the deserts of northern Arizona and Utah as well as overseas to the wonderful country of Iceland. The places you will most likely find me are along the shores of Lake Superior from Minnesota and Wisconsin to Upper Michigan.
On a more personal note, I have two beautiful daughters and a wonderfully patient wife of going on 20 years. In August of 2007 I left my previous job at Camera Casino camera store after 8 years and went full time into wedding photography. I timed that move with the birth of our first girl, Maddy. Two and a half years later Aurora (named after the aurora borealis or northern lights) came into our world. Currently going on 17 years as a full time wedding photographer. It's all I do. No side hustle here. Just making awesome photos for a good 25 years.
We all love cats but are unfortunately allergic. Instead we have 6 leopard geckos and a tortoise. Essentially 6 mini dinosaurs and a rock with legs.
Other than photography I have interests in running, cycling, hiking, camping, geography and geology. I love searching out cool and interesting rocks along my travels and I like paper maps. Sometimes we even plan trips just to dig stuff out of the ground. Our rock, mineral and crystal collection is amazing. I have pictures on my phone if you want to see them. Every Sunday if I'm not out photographing I'll likely be watching Formula 1, NASCAR, sports cars or riding my bicycle for hundreds of miles at a time. Race cars and bikes are cool. If you give hints about an interest in auto racing or cycling at our wedding meeting we may talk more about that than your wedding. It's happened a few times.
More random stuff about me:
- Root beer is my drink of choice. Specifically 1919. It's awesome.
- Cheese curds... Duh, Wisconsin haha.
- Pasta is life.
- I rode my bicycle 14,000+ miles last year (see why pasta is life?). More than twice what I drove my truck.
- I'm gradually replacing my lawn with wildflowers. For the bees and butterflies! (Ask for pictures of my flowers too.)
- We have an amazing rock and mineral collection. So proud of it I had to mention it again.
- Hire me and I'll make some awesome pictures for you.
